Acces Art, Cede Aruba and AIB-BANK join forces in
one project
Project encourages Cultural Develepment under the
banner “AIB-Pro Crea”
ORANJESTAD – “We are convinced that everything we do
must have an effect on thh socio-cultural and
enviromental well-being of our community. It is for
this reason that a project such as this one is a
perfect with within the our goal of always being a
good corporate citizen”, is what Frendsel Giel said,
representing the management of AIB-BANK at the
presentation of this project, which took place
yesterday among special guests at Acces Art Gallery
in Caya Betico Croes.
Partnership
This project is a partnership between AIB BANK, Cede
Aruba and Acces Art Gallery to encourage cultural
development among the youth of Aruba. This project
goes hand-in-hand with the need to help the youth
develop themselves from a cultural stand-point in a
long-lasting manner. Although it has only been in
existence for 2 years, Access Art has recognized
this need. They are conscious that there exists a
void and Acces Art is ready, willing and able to
offer the youth an opoprtunity to develop and foster
their cultural knowledge.
AIB-BANK Participation
Naturally, Access Art, in collaboration with its
volunteers have the intellectual capacity to offer a
cultural education to the community, however, the
required financial resources have always been a
stumbling block. This is where AIB-BANK has stepped
after an immediate showing of interest, and
consequently, the Bank has adopted this project and
will make monthly financial contributions to cover
the expenses that will be incurred in order to
execute and manage a project of this magnitude and
importance.
History of Art
The project will be divided into three phases; “Art
History”, “Poet Society” and “Out of the Box”.
History of Art will be focused towards students at
the “brug klas” level of education. This phase
entails a visit to the Access Art Gallery where
students will be given a
“power point presentation” about Art History. The
students will also be given a your of the gallery in
addition to information as to how an Gallery is
operated/managed and how art is presented and sold
through the Gallery. At the same time, a workshop
will be held during which the students will be
“tested” on their knowledge of the concepts of
visual arts that was presented to them earlier in
the process. The initial phase of this project
entails a 3 hour visit to Access Art Gallery which
will be held between 9:00am and 12 Noon.
Poet Society
The second phase of “AIB-Pro Crea” is a year long
workshop for young writers under the guidance and
tutelage of writers and educators of local
literature. The workshop will aide aspiring writers
to develop themselves and to guide them towards the
goals of publishing and presenting their work in the
near future. This phase will be open to
participants between 15 and 25 years of age. This is
a forum and platform from which aspiring writers
will receive the feedback they need in order to
further develop their talent for writing. Access
Art believes that literary expression is an integral
part of what “lives” inside the youth of Aruba and
are convinced that a significant number of future
writers and poets can be developed, especially when
one sees the large pool of talent that is present in
Aruba, but that are currently without guidance in
general, from an artistic perspective.
Out of the Box
The third and final phase of this project is another
year long workshop that will encourage the
development of contemporary art, experimenting with
various techniques in order to help aspiring artists
with artistic material which students will need in
order to gain acceptance into international art
academies. These “student-artists” will be given
guidance by experienced artists thereby providing
the students with a significant dose and exposure to
local art in addition to the development of relevant
concepts regarding the world of contemporary art.
This workshop targets youngsters between the ages of
17 and 20.
The Responsibility of AIB-BANK
Noteworthy is that since its inception in 1987, AIB-BANK
has always maintained its objectives, with few
changes as to how it approaches the market place.
This has enabled AIB-BANK to grow during the pasy
years and have proven that there is room for a local
development bank. The values of AIB-BANK include
their commitment to excellence, their way of
listening and understanding their clients, to being
a Bank anchored by integrity, to be courageous and
to be a model corporate citizen. AIB-BANK wishes to
place emphasis on the importance of being a model
corporate citizen and the Bank has demonstrated this
through their actions.
During the past few weeks, the youth of Aruba have
the been subject of many discussions. Time and time
again the factor “there-is-nothing-to-do” has been
raised and as a serious and responsibile Bank, AIB-BANK
is proud to asume its responsibility and to
contrinbute towards a better future for our youth.
Frensdel Giel concluded his remarks by stating that
“it is our duty to ensure that our future is in well
looked after, today. We are certain that Access Art
Gallery and local artists will properly guide,
develop and foster our youth to become the great
artists of tomorrow”.
